Womack Army Medical Center is making some changes soon that will affect how we deliver primary care to our beneficiaries.  Womack Army Medical Center will offer evening hours for our patients who receive their primary care at the clinics on post.  Our Acute Minor Illness Clinic (AMIC) will close on 2 June, 2012. Beginning 4 June, 2012, our primary care clinics hours of operation will be extended until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  On Fridays, the clinics will operate under normal operating hours.  These include:  Clark Health Clinic, Joel Health and Dental Clinic, Pope Health Clinic, Robinson Health Clinic and Womack Family Medicine Residency Clinic.  This will allow each patient to maintain a relationship with their Primary Care Manager and Primary Care Team. This change will offer better continuity of care for our patients.  Patients will be seen in their own primary care clinics by their team of providers.  Appointments will be made by calling 910-907-2778.

We solicit your input and suggestions during this transition. We value your feedback and know the best suggestions come from those who receive their primary care from our clinics. Please take the time to add a comment or suggestion to my BLOG for those issues of concern to you.

The Fayetteville and Hope Mills Medical Homes will continue to operate on their normal operating hours.

The month of December presents us with many opportunities to spend time with family, friends, and loved ones and to participate in numerous Holiday activities within our respective communities. During this Holiday season we ask everyone to keep in their thoughts and prayers all of our men and women serving this nation in uniform, especially those who are apart from their Families and friends due to deployments or work schedules. We are extremely proud and thankful for our Womack Team through the dedicated love and support of our Families for their commitment to this great organization as we provide excellent health care. We were fortunate to experience the Tree Lighting Ceremony held on Fort Bragg on the 1st of December. We look forward to the WAMC Holiday Ball in the Holiday Inn Bordeaux on the 9th of December and the WAMC Children's Holiday Party on December 17th in the Medical Center Mall. We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year.

November is an exciting month for Womack Army Medical Center beginning with the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Womack Health and Support Center held on 3rd of November. The Health and Support Center will house the Behavioral Health Department, Department of Social Work Services/Family Advocacy Program, and the Directorate of Business Operations providing 15,154 square feet of space. The new facility provides an increase of 8216 square feet for the Social Work/Family Advocacy Program. The addition will allow for the synchronization of Behavioral Health interventions and create a smoother transition within the Behavioral Health continuum of care thus streamlining access to comprehensive behavioral health care, including outpatient behavioral health services, marriage and family therapy, child therapy and Family Advocacy Program. The collocation of the Department of Business Operations within the new facility will free up space that will support an improvement in the Emergency Department functionality as well as the development of Graduate Medical Education specialties, programs, and services. An additional benefit of this project is the eventual gain of an additional 332 parking spaces on the Womack campus once this new facility is completed.

Womack Army Medical Center looks forward to future events to include the Womack Thanksgiving Day lunch held in the Blue Ribbon Bistro on the 22nd November and the National American Indian Heritage Observance in the Weaver Auditorium on the 29th November. As we approach the holiday season, I ask everyone to acknowledge a personal concern for safety. I ask all leaders to visit the National Safety Council at www.nsc.org and the Army Combat Readiness Safety Center at https://safety.army.mil for a full review of areas to emphasize and learn.
