Mission

Provide leadership, guidance, integration, and coordinate for all program areas within the department to ensure optimized public health throughout Fort Bragg, surrounding areas and the entire beneficiary population.

Vision

Ensure Force Health throughout the installation by maintaining all assigned Preventive Medicine program areas while integrating functions to meet and support WAMC CDR's mission and vision.

Services

Environmental Health

  • Potable Water Program
    • State Certified Water Lab
    • Conduct water sampling by request and provide memorandums for bottled water operations as needed
    • Conduct QA/QC sampling of three separate water systems
    • Bi-annual Dental Water Bacteriological Compliance Sampling
  • Food Service Sanitation Program
    • Continued monthly food service facilities inspections: 15 DFACs, 8 School cafeterias, 37 other food facilities, 7 Continentals, 4 food courts, and 4 mobile food vendors
    • Bi-Monthly Post wide Food Handler Sanitation Class, Bi-Monthly CYSS Food Handlers Class
  • Hazardous and Regulated Medical Waste
    • Monitor EPR budget for HW/RM
    • Monthly checks on HW/RMW procedures throughout WAMC and outlying clnics

    • Food Establishment insects and rodents observation

Army Hearing Program

  • Performing medical surveillance hearing twists
  • Maintaining DoD medical surveillance hearing test equipment
  • Conducting hearing loss prevention education
  • Issuance and fitting of hearing protection to ensure all deploying soldiers are issued the Combat Arms Earplug in accordance with Office of the Surgeon General ALARAT Mandate
  • Ensuring MEDPROS adequately reflects medical readiness for hearing

Epidemiological Disease (EDC) Control

  • Provide services to all TRICARE beneficiaries using a staff of 4 Physician Assistants, 3 Public Health Technicians, and 2 Registered Nurses
  • Care is provided to adults & teens 13 and older
  • Evaluate and profile all environmental (heat/cold) injured soldiers
  • Public Health Techs perform counseling, contact interviews & patient education
  • HIV & Hepatitis (chronic illness/special population) case management
  • Medical Surveillance - track, analyze and report diseases and injuries to state and military
  • Blood Donor Look Back Program
  • Outreach and community education - presenting classes, collaboration with local agencies

Army Wellness Center

  • Heath Assessment Review - An analysis of a person's health status, risk for disease, and ability to increase physical activity safely
  • Physical Fitness - Using state-of-the-art equipment, physical fitness level is assessed and used to create an individualized exercise prescription
  • Healthy Nutrition - Use of metabolic testing that synchronizes an individual's resting metabolic rate to provide tailored strategies for weight loss, gain or maintenance
  • Stress Management - Education in biofeedback, stress relief techniques, and positive coping skills
  • General Wellness Education - Classes on topics such as healthy lifestyles, good sleep habits, increased resiliency, preventing chronic disease through healthy living habits, and self-care
  • Tobacco Education - An assessment of an individual's readiness to change with a discussion of possible options for becoming tobacco-free
