Mission

To provide care for normal spontaneous vaginal delivery, operative vaginal delivery, cesarean delivery patients, their newborns, and high risk antepartum patients requiring hospitalization.  We specialize in delivering safe, comprehensive, quality care and quality caring to the mother, infant, and family.

Scope of Service

 Population Served

Conditions and Diagnosis Treated

·         High Volume: Post-Partum patients and newborn infants

·         High Risk:

o   Preterm Labor *

o   Gestational Diabetes * 

o   Gestational Hypertension *

Treatments and Activities

  • Care of a normal spontaneous vaginal delivery, antepartum patients of greater than 20 weeks gestation with a variety of diagnosis, Cesarean Section patients, normal newborn routine care of newborns that require antibiotic therapy and phototherapy *
  • Responsible for Rhogam injectionsfor mothers
  • Post-Partum immunizations if they did not receive them during their prenatal course
  • Metabolic testing* for infants
  • Provide education regarding prenatal care, postpartum care and infant care

Meeting Patient Needs

  • Family focused care: 24 hour rooming-in with your infant(s), rooming-in instructions, patient education, mother care postpartum, breast care, breast/bottle feeding, cord-care, bulb syringe education, fundal massage, perineal care, circumcision care and education, lochiaeducation, infant security, “baby basics”, bedside discharge class, family patient lounge where you can store your own food during your stay, LOTS of lactation support;
    6 CLCs* (Certified Lactation Counselors)  (Certified Lactation Counselors) and 4 IBCLCs*  (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants)
  • Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Sunday
o   Due to infection control concerns for our newborn patients, non-sibling children under the age of 12 are not allowed on the unit.
